| Hi guys new here so hello to everyone from (soon to be) Trump town. I'm coming up for the weekend to spectate and wondered if anyone could point in the direction of some good spectating points. Don't mind a bit of walk but I would like to see things I keep hearing about such as the dunes of death, pool of doom and the death slide. I know where woodside is but everything else is a bit of a mystery. All help greatfully received. |

Hi Bill, Welcome to the forum firstly.
Right to start with if you can get to Woodside on friday follow markers to Lossiemouth after 12.00pm and you will drive through the forest to the special test and can then investigate, If you head in the direction of the sea from the start of the test area you'll find both satans sands and the dunes of death.
If you head off following markers from the old salmon bothy which I think you'll pass on your way to the test you will find also the dragons spine and then the sea of stones, you will know if you find both the spine is an undulating path made up of very large beach pebbles and the sea is a large expanse of the same stones.
Unfortunately the others you mention are in Monaughty and hard to give you directions for. If you can you're best to just come into the forests' and you'll come accross some of us and most of us are friendly and if you go to woodside you can walk round there as there's lots of surrounding land aswell as the track being used, if you come early we'll even give you a job
If you wish more detailed info send me a private message through this board or email me.

| Thanks for the warm welcome and the replies. I am right in thinking that Monaughty is somewhere out by Pluscarden Abbey ? I will have a camera or two with me and will be more than happy to post a few on here. |

Yep you're about right with Monaghtys location your best entrance for a walk would be as follows
First link is your best place to park at gate off the road to your left.
multimap.com/maps/?#t=l&map=57.62396,-3.4073|14|4&dp=841&loc=:57.62313:-3.42584:14||
Second link follow marked roads on the map to the next point and you'll see arrows to your right marking the course.
multimap.com/maps/?#t=l&map=57.62396,-3.4073|14|4&dp=841&loc=:57.6177:-3.41331:14||

Yes the multimap links worked fine once I had cut and pasted them. Good job I didn't make for the abbey as I would have been on the wrong side of the forest I've got my OS map out now and I am plotting my route. Thanks again. |

Good to here the links worked and yes you woud've been about 2 miles uphill the wrong way if you'd gone in from the Abbey, hence the maps Will look forward to any pics my email is woodsidemx@aol.com _________________ Never argue with a fool. Can anyone tell me whether you can get access to monaughty from pluscarden abbey side? Am I right in thinking that is pretty close to the bottom of the very steep downhill section. Also has anyone rough timings of when the first rider will be at each of the sections? Thanks in advance

Hi Col, You can go in from the abbey but your better going in from the other side> multimap.com/maps/?%23t=l&map=57.62396,-3.4073%7C14%7C4&dp=841&loc=:57.62313:-3.42584:14%7C%7C#t=l&map=57.62396,-3.4073|14|4&dp=841&loc=:57.62336:-3.41296:14||,
If it's the death slide you're asking about it's well to the left of the abbey your best bet would be to go to the quarry and you're virtually at the slide, death slide is here > multimap.com/maps/?%23t=l&map=57.62396,-3.4073%7C14%7C4&dp=841&loc=:57.62313:-3.42584:14%7C%7C#t=l&map=57.60332,-3.4073|14|4&dp=841&loc=:57.60226:-3.44781:14||
We will be expecting the first riders into Monaughty at around 10.30, Lossiemouth from 9.05 and Woodside 9.55. All times are very rough estimates _________________ Never argue with a fool. They will lower you to their level and then beat you with experience...
